I think you'll be very pleased with how much quicker it feels once all the kinks are worked out. If not, then worry about going bigger, right? Anyway, my automatic is holding up great. I drove the car my normal ~25k the first two years of having it and maybe 10k this last year and it's been a champ despite abuse. The two big things, as cliche as they might sound, are to keep it cool and change the oil. I have an aftermarket cooler+fan assembly and a temp gauge to make sure it was working and I change that transmission oil every 10k. Usually before that. No complaints. Dean has had over a hundred 10/11-second passes on his if memory serves and I think even Greg's core build lasted a relatively crazy amount of time. Both of them with minor alterations that were part of R&D (valve body mods, adjusting passages, etc). None of which required removing the tranny, just the pan. So yeah, I dig it... ...if you have to have an auto =)
